States that expanded Medicaid, on average, had nearly twice the percentage reduction in their rates of uninsured workers compared to states that refused the expansion, according to a Families USA study to be released in a teleconference at 1:00 p.m. EST, Wednesday, February 3.
The study – “Medicaid Expansion States Help More Working People Get Health Coverage” – compares uninsured workers state in all 50 states between 2013 and 2014 – the first year of enrollment in the Affordable Care Act.
Participating in the teleconference will be Dee Mahan, Families USA director of Medicaid advocacy; and Cara Stewart, health law fellow at the Kentucky Equal Justice Center, and Ray Scher, treasurer, Virginia Organizing State Governing Board. Other speakers may be added.
