Superintendent of Schools, Dr. David Cox, recently announced the appointments of two assistant principal positions and the Coordinator of the Eckhart Alternative Program for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year to fill vacancies from last year.
Staci Noah, former teacher at Flintstone Elementary School, will serve as the Assistant Principal at Cresaptown Elementary School, filling a vacancy left with Shannon Green’s transfer to West Side Elementary School, and Melissa Moran, former teacher at Northeast Elementary School, will serve as the Assistant Principal at John Humbird Elementary School, filling the vacancy left with the departure of Caren Kurtz. Ethan DeVore, former social studies teacher at Fort Hill, will serve as the Coordinator of the Eckhart Alternative Program, a position previously held by Dr. Charlene Shingler-Beeman who will continue to serve as the Instructional Consultation Team Facilitator for the county.
Other notable assignments include Jennifer Jackson as the new Pupil Personnel Worker for Allegany High and Braddock Middle Schools, and Jennifer Rice who will serve as a school psychologist. Cox also announced that Gene Pustolski will serve as the Interim Lead Pupil Personnel Worker for the school system for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. Mr. Pustolski will assume interim responsibilities within student services previously under the auspice of Dr. Ben Brauer.
“I am fortunate to be working with such a dedicated group of professionals, and I look forward to the opportunities in this new venture,” said Mr. Pustolski. “I would also like to wish Dr. Brauer well in his new position at FSU and thank him for the guidance he provided while with ACPS.”
In his new role, Mr. Pustolski will serve as a hearing officer, oversee reportable offenses, facilitate the administration of out-of-district permits, and coordinate attendance and drop-out prevention, as well as serve as a resource to pupil personnel workers. He will also serve as the district liaison for the Department of Social Services, the Department of Juvenile Services, and the States Attorney’s Office.
Mrs. Debbie Metheny, current Supervisor of Special Education, will now also be the Supervisor of Student Services and will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the system wide program for pupil accounting, pupil conduct, alternative education, and special education.
