On Friday, August 9, 2013 at approximately 1:30 P.M., members of the Maryland State Police – Cumberland Barrack, Combined County Criminal Investigative Unit (C3I) and C3I Fugitive Unit arrested 29 year old, Victor Ervin White of Cumberland. He was apprehended at a private residence located in the 500 block of “A” Street in Lavale. White was wanted in connection to the stabbing that occurred during the early morning hours on Friday in the 400 block of National Highway in LaVale.
Early Friday morning, at approximately 1:33 AM, the Maryland State Police responded to a disturbance in the 400 block of National Highway in LaVale. When Troopers arrived, they learned that there had been an altercation and that a 15 year old male victim had been stabbed in the upper back. Members of the LaVale Rescue Squad responded to the scene and treated the victim prior to transporting him to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for further treatment of his injuries.
Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded to assist in the investigation. Investigators interviewed a number of juveniles and young adults who had attended a party at an unoccupied residence in LaVale. There had been an altercation at the party prior to the party breaking up. As several of the juveniles were walking east on National Highway, they were approached by the suspect, who had not attended the party, in the company of a female. The suspect approached the victim and there was another altercation at that time between the victim and the suspect. During the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim once in the upper back area.
Troopers, with the assistance of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, and a K-9 Unit with the Maryland Natural Resources Police, conducted a search of the area for the suspect and the weapon used by the suspect. Neither were located at that time.
Through interviews, Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Victor Ervin White of Cumberland.
White has been criminally charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault and 2nd Degree Assault.
