Talbot County Govt Votes to Remove “Talbot Boys” Monument

The Talbot County Council has introduced a resolution to remove the Confederate monument known as the “Talbot Boys” statue from in front of the circuit courthouse.  Confederate monuments are being taken down in Maryland and across the country in the wake of the police in-custody death of George Floyd. The Talbot Boys statue, dedicated in 1916 on the courthouse lawn, is a monument to Confederate soldiers. It sits on public land and is maintained with public money. A push to take it down five years ago failed, but now, the calls for removal have been renewed with new voices, including U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen, Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot and the Talbot County chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.  Council president Corey Pack, who is a sponsor, said he’s changed his mind and that it's time for the monument to go…

    This has got to stop. Removing a monument changes nothing.

    But it gives the phony ‘liberal’ Democrats a chance to pretend they’re ACTUALLY doing something for minorities, instead of ACTUALLY helping them!
