Taste of Garrett: May 5 at WISP

In it’s 17th year, Garrett Trail’s fundraiser, “Taste of Garrett” will be held on Sunday, May 5 from 4:00 to 7:00p.m. at WISP Resort.  Craft beer tasting will be back again this year and the “Race Up the Face” event will also take place at 4:00 p.m. to coincide with Taste of Garrett.   

 

“We are back and better than ever for our 17th annual  Taste of Garrett,” said Garrett Trails Executive Director, Ashlee Houck.   “We are pleased to raise funds to expand and improve Garrett County’s renown trail network while providing patrons the opportunity to sample the unique and diverse food offerings that represent the very best of Garrett County.”  

 

Taste of Garrett individual entry fees are $30 and for an additional $10 a guest can add craft beer tasting that includes a souvenir sampler glass.  Entry for children age 12 and under is $15.  Along with Taste of Garrett, folks can also participate in “The Race Up the Face” for $30, which also includes a free food sampling entry to Taste of Garrett.  The race takes place at 4:00 p.m. on May 5 and consists of an ascent of  407 feet up to WISP’s black diamond trail, “Up The Face.”  

 

So far, this year’s line-up of participating eateries include Ace’s Run, Black Bear Tavern & Restaurant,  Brenda’s Pizza, Chef Larry Lee, Cornucopia Café, Curtze Food Group, Deep Creek Donuts, Deep Creek Seafood,  Garrett County Farms & Foods, Glazed & Confused Donuts, High Country Creamery, Lakeside Creamy, Little Crossings Pantry, Moonshadow Café, Mountain State Brewing, Performance Food Service, Savage River Lodge, Sorellee's Pizza and Trader’s Coffee House.   

 

Along with food and beer sampling, Taste of Garrett patrons will have a chance to enter a raffle game for a bicycle donated by High Mountain Sports.  New to the line-up of event activities, Taste of Garrett will be adding a “A Cake, Bake and Steak Walk.”  Folks will have the opportunity to participate in an old-fashioned cake walk with a chance to take home baked goods from participating local bakeries such as Casselman Bakery and steaks provided by Curtze Food Group  

 

Taste of Garrett proceeds benefit Garrett Trails, a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to the development of a well-used network of outstanding quality biking, hiking and cross country ski trails that provide access to Garrett County’s historic, municipal and environmental treasures. The goal of Garrett Trails is to attract visitors as well as promote fitness and outdoor enjoyment for county residents through trail use.
