On Friday, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 100 block of Humbird Street in reference to a domestic assault. Upon the officers arrival contact was made with a female victim who stated that she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend who still lives with her. The victim stated that an argument ensued and then she was struck in the face with a closed fist by the suspect. The victim stated that after she was assaulted the suspect fled the scene. The victim was bleeding from her nose which resulted from being assaulted. The suspect was located a short distance away from the scene and placed under arrest. The suspect is a 16 year old male juvenile. Due to the extent of the victim’s injuries the juvenile was charged as an adult after consulting with the State’s Attorney’s Office. The juvenile was taken to District Court for his initial appearance and was released on his personal recognizance.
