Ten Years Later, Hooley Continues to Grow

February 20th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

Ten years ago, Dr. Sean McCagh had the idea to raise money for a local cause that required brave souls plunging into the frigid March waters of Lake Habeeb at Rocky Gap State Park. That year, 30 plungers took the challenge. Now celebrating its tenth anniversary, more than 800 plungers are expected to take the plunge on Saturday, March 1 to raise needed funds for the Special Olympics of Allegany County and several other local programs for the developmentally disabled. The event is coordinated by the Alhambra Wamba Caravan #89.  McCagh said that last year, over $120,000 was raised and that all the money raised is used locally.
