Testing Results Shows Drop in Proficiency

July 24th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

State and county test results for public school students have dropped for the 2012-2013 school year.  New common core learning standards have been implemented and the transition is proving a challenge for public schools in the state.  Math proficiency dropped at both the elementary and middle school levels, while reading improved for middle school but dropped for elementary school.  Mia Cross, public information officer for the school board, told WCBC News that Superintendent Dr. David Cox praised the efforts of school system personnel.
