As the result of an indictment handed down by the Allegany County Grand Jury, an additional 68 charges have been filed against 20 year old Cole Michael McCormick, of Mt. Savage, in connection with a series of night time residential burglaries, in addition to thefts from vehicles, in the Frostburg and Mt. Savage area. McCormick has been charged with 18 counts of Burglary, 16 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, 13 counts of Theft, 13 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Theft, 1 count of 1st Degree Assault, 2 counts of 2nd Degree Assault, and other related charges in connection with break-ins at 6 different residences and thefts from 6 different vehicles.
McCormick is currently being held in the Allegany County Detention Center pending an appearance before a Circuit Court Judge on the new charges.
As part of the investigation, Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) executed a search and seizure warrant at McCormick’s residence, and executed two other consent searches at the residences of two of his juvenile accomplices. A large amount of stolen property was recovered.
In an unrelated matter, the Frostburg Police charged 32 year old Randall James Kelley II, of Frostburg, in another series of thefts from vehicles. C3I Investigators and the Frostburg Police executed a search and seizure warrant at Kelley’s residence, and another large amount of stolen property was recovered.
C3I Investigators are still attempting to identify the victims of both suspect’s crimes and return their property to them. Among the items recovered are numerous GPS units, cell phones, electronic equipment, jewelry, car stereo parts, cameras, back packs antiques, collectibles, past major sporting event ticket stubs, and other items.
Investigators have learned that McCormick and Kelley, independent of one another, have broken into vehicles and residences throughout the Allegany County area. Many of the crimes have not even been reported to law enforcement. Investigators are urging anyone who may have been the victim of a theft from their vehicle or residence, even if they have not reported the incident to the police, to contact C3I, at 301-777-0326, to view the property, identify it, and claim it.
Both investigations are continuing. Additional charges are anticipated
