Theft case results in two arrests

The Cumberland City Police Department served a criminal summons on Rusty Jay Bittinger Jr and Shonna Lee Bittinger.   Both summonses stem from a theft investigation that was reported on October 24, 2012.   On that date an officer responded to the Allegany Motor & Pump Service, located at 130 Wineow Street, Cumberland.   During an investigation into the matter the officer learned from the business owner that various pieces of scrap metal were illegally removed from the property sometime on October 21, 2012.   A second theft was also reported by the business owner between the dates of October 22, 2012 and October 23, 2012.   During this theft, three electric motors and one generator were illegally removed from the business.  On October 25, 2012 a third theft complaint was filed by the victim.   During this theft, a 200 horse power electric motor core was missing.  After reviewing video footage from the business a suspect vehicle and tag were obtained.   With the assistance of the Mineral County Sheriff's Office, several stolen items were located at a residence in West Virginia.   Officers were able to develop two suspects in the matter that eventually led to charges being filed at District Court in Cumberland, Allegany County Maryland.

Arrested: Shonna Lee Bittinger                                Age: 25 of Ridgeley, West Virginia

 

Charges: Theft Scheme and Theft $1,000- under $10,000.
