Thiam Becomes First Female Black GOP State Legislator in MD History

Maryland’s first female black Republican state lawmaker was sworn in on Tuesday.  Brenda Thiam was appointed by Governor Hogan to represent District 2B in Washington County, replacing Paul Corderman, who was appointed to the state Senate seat vacated by Andrew Serafini, who retired earlier this year. Thiam is a behavioral health specialist and assists families of children with autism.
