Tourism Industry In County Seeing Increasing Numbers

Despite the continued sagging economy- the tourism industry in Allegany County is not only maintaining, but actually seeing increasing numbers. Final numbers for 2011 showed a hike in ridership for the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad at a time when other tourist railroads have struggled to keep the status quo. Frank Fowler, the railroad’s general superintendent, said that the increases have been steady in recent years and because of an expanded schedule he is expecting even better numbers in 2012…
