TRAFFIC UPDATE: Eastbound 68 Re-Opened

Update 10:21 PM:

Allegany County 911 says that one lane of Eastbound Interstate 68 has been reopened on the Cumberland Crosstown Bridge.  Cleanup related to a morning truck fire continues.  We have additional listener reports of mishaps in Cumberland at the intersection of Queen City Drive and South Centre Street, and near the Clarysville Bridge on eastbound 68.   Traffic is flowing on that bridge, as confirmed by a WCBC view of an MDOT CHART Traffic Camera.

INITIAL REPORT:

A fully involved tractor trailer fire on I-68 eastbound in Cumberland near exit 43 B had both lanes of traffic shutdown for nearly an hour. At this time the eastbound lane remains close as well as exit 43 B. WCBC News will have more information as it becomes available…

Update 6:44am:

The eastbound lane and the westbound 43 B exit remains closed at this time additionally the Kelly Road and Route 220 on ramps to I-68 have been shutdown to prevent traffic from reaching the scene. The tractor trailer fire has been extinguished however, crews remain on the scene removing materials from the tractor trailer.

Update 8:35am:

The cleanup from this mornings tractor trailer fire on I-68 continues and has impacted traffic going through Cumberland and the surrounding area as vehicles take alternate routes to get around the incident. Traffic has been reported to be tied up on Route 40 going through downtown Cumberland as well as Greene St.
