Traffic pattern changes for Homecoming game

November 6th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Police Department, in conjunction with the administrations of both Allegany and Fort Hill High Schools, would like to announce the following traffic pattern changes for the annual Homecoming Game which will be played this Saturday, November 9, at Greenway Avenue Stadium.  For this game there will be no vehicular traffic permitted in front of the stadium from 8:00 a.m. until one hour after the conclusion of the event.  Traffic on Greenway Avenue will be detoured into the circle in front of Fort Hill High School in which individuals may be dropped off and picked up, as well as to access the parking spaces available at this location.  Traffic on Brookfield Avenue will be detoured with a right turn only allowing them to continue on Greenway Avenue away from the stadium.  Officers will be placed at these two points to control traffic.  Individuals requiring handicapped parking should contact one of those officers to arrange for them to be directed to any available handicapped spaces in front of the stadium.  Vehicles will also be allowed to access Cecil Street from Greenway Avenue to park, first come first served; however, Cecil Street will be closed for any vehicles attempting to travel on Cecil Street toward Greenway Avenue from Ridgewood Avenue.  Individuals being transported to the stadium who are in one of the bands or Homecoming Courts and need a closer access point to be dropped off should contact one of the officers at the intersections who will arrange for this to occur in a safe manner.
