The Cumberland Times News reports five suspected drug dealers were jailed and more than 20 pounds of marijuana confiscated following a bust that started with a traffic stop Sunday in Wiley Ford. The Mineral County Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday on its Facebook page the arrests of Steven Miller, Thomas Wright, Sarah Diehl, Korina Jay and Neal Wright. All five suspects were being held at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta on the charge of drug possession with intent to distribute. Deputies were initially called to the Heavener Estates subdivision to investigate a suspicious vehicle complaint, and one of the men in the vehicle was allegedly trespassing on private property. The deputy reportedly located and stopped the vehicle on state Route 28 and found that none of its occupants — Miller, Thomas Wright and Jay — had a valid operator's license. The three were arrested after the deputy smelled marijuana in the vehicle and allegedly recovered more than a pound and a half inside.
Police said further investigation led them to a home in Heavener Estates, where a search warrant was executed by deputies and West Virginia State Police troopers. More than 20 pounds of marijuana was recovered at that location, police said, and Neal Wright and Diehl were arrested. Police said Neal Wright attempted to escape custody but was captured after a brief foot pursuit. He also faces charges for attempted escape.
Diehl faces additional charges for failure to appear at a court hearing in Allegany County, authorities said.Wright's bond was set at $60,000, according to online jail records. Miller, Thomas Wright and Jay were being held on $10,000 bond each. There was no bond listed for Jay.
