Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest

On Friday  Cumberland City Police officers conducted a traffic stop on Franklin Street in Cumberland for a registration violation.  Upon contacting the operator who was identified as Jordan Alexander Garlitz, 18 of Cumberland, officers learned that Garlitz was operating an uninsured vehicle with invalid registration.  After further investigation, officers also found that Garlitz was in violation of a Florida court order by being in contact with a passenger in the vehicle.  As a result of this investigation, Garlitz was placed under arrest and transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters where he was charged with the following:

Displaying expired registration plates – 1 count

Driving Uninsured vehicle – 1 count

Violation of Ex-Parte Order – 1 count

Garlitz was processed and transported to the Allegany County District Court for a bond hearing.  Garlitz was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.

On 04/28/2013, at approximately 2044 hours, Troopers from the Cumberland Barrack stopped a 2012 Toyota Camry for traveling 76mph in a posted 65mph zone, on eastbound Interstate 68 near the Clarysville Bridge in Frostburg, Allegany County, MD. The driver was identified as Tamboura Aiesha Hall, 36yoa of Baltimore, MD. The passenger was identified as Chanelle Nicole Williams, also 36yoa of Baltimore, MD. During the stop, a K-9 scan was conducted resulting in a positive alert by the K-9. A search of the vehicle revealed 5 luggage bags containing 6 bundles of suspected marijuana. The weight of the suspected marijuana was 139.5 pounds, with an estimated street value of $208,000.00. Both Hall and Williams were charged with possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to deliver and CDS possession – large amount. Both defendants were held on $750,000.00 bond, and were taken to the Allegany County Detention Center.
