At approximately 1215 hours on 8/3/2017, the Maryland State Police McHenry Barrack was notified of a collision between a CSX train and a tractor trailer on Boiling Springs Road at Edgewood Drive, Deer Park, Garrett County, Maryland.
Troopers from the McHenry Barrack and Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division are currently on scene, along with Garrett County Fire/EMS, and personnel from Garrett County Roads. Representatives from CSX are also on scene.
There are no hazardous materials being transported in either the train or tractor trailer involved. Preliminary investigation determined that the train was loaded with coal and the tractor trailer was empty.
Residents and motorists are advised that the road will be closed for an unknown amount of time due to power lines down, and damage to the train structure. Alternative routes are suggested.
