Trone Announces ARC Grant for Garrett Access Road

April 7th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Today, U.S. Congressman David Trone (D-Md.) announced $1,000,000 in funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to construct an access road in Garrett County, Maryland.

The grant provides funding for a local access road along Springs Road in Grantsville, Maryland, creating a connection to two major roadways, US 40 and US 219 N. This area is designated as a prime region for economic growth and development. The project is expected to leverage $6 million in private investments.

“The lack of infrastructure in Garrett County and Western Maryland is leaving communities behind,” said Rep. David Trone (MD-06). “This grant is a step in the right direction — providing funds for an important infrastructure project to help stimulate growth in the region. We must continue to invest in Western Maryland and help bring the region’s infrastructure into the 21st century.”

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant program awards funding for economic development projects in the Appalachian region to stimulate growth.
