Two Arrested After Goethe Street Burglary Call

Saturday evening at 7 PM, officers from the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to a Goethe Street residence for a report of a burglary in progress.

Officers arrived and made contact with the victim. The victim pointed out several people walking up Goethe Street who were involved. Officers attempted to stop the subjects pointed out as being involved, but the subjects refused to cooperate with officers. They continued to leave the area after officers ordered the subjects to stop.

Officers took Rodney Montgomery Ross Jr. and Marcellius Orlando Hamilton into custody after they hindered the officer’s investigation. The victim of the burglary was able to indentify Ross as the subject who kicked in the front door of his residence. Both subjects were transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Ross and Hamilton were later transported to the District Court Commissioners Office for a hearing.

At the conclusion of the hearing both Ross and Hamilton were transported to the Allegany County Detention Center where they were both held on a bond of $3,000.00.

Charges: 4th Degree Burglary, Destruction of Property, Disorderly Conduct, & Failure to Obey

Marcellius Orlando Hamilton, age 25 of Cumberland, MD

Obstructing and Hindering, & Failure to Obey
