December 12th, 2011 by WCBC Radio

On Sunday evening  at approximately 5:30 p.m. deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office were on patrol on Rt. 220 in the area of Jared Drive when they came upon a 4 vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by 18 year old Marley Kamp of Lonaconing was traveling south bound and failed to stop for a vehicle driven by 56 year old Robin Shook of Cumberland, who was attempting a turn onto Jared Drive. Kamp struck the rear of Shook's vehicle causing extensive damage to both vehicles.  A vehicle following behind Kamp, operated by 20 year old Kevin Knotts of New Creek, swerved into the shoulder to avoid the collision and was struck by Kamp's vehicle. Shook's vehicle was shoved into the north bound lane and struck a vehicle driven by 43 year old Robert Mayle of Deer Park, causing extensive damage to Mayle's vehicle. Kamp was charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision.

Kamp and Shook were transported to Western Maryland Hospital with apparent non-life threatening injuries.
Three vehicles were towed from the scene.
Cresaptown Fire Department and Ambulance as well as Rawlings Fire Department were on scene.
Rt. 220 was closed for several hours
