Two killed, three injured in single car crash

Maryland State Police are investigating a single-vehicle wreck that occurred early Friday morning at the 5-mile marker on westbound 68 that resulted in two people pronounced dead at the scene and three patients flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. The three patients were flown to the Morgantown hospital after the driver hit a sign post at 6:19 a.m. Friday. Maryland State Police medevac helicopter, Health Net and Stat Medevac flew the patients, according to the Garrett County 911 Center. Northern Garrett Rescue Squad and Friendsville and Grantsville Volunteer Fire Departments also responded. Westbound lanes on I-68 was closed to traffic through the morning as a result of the accident. Further information, including identification of the victims, was not available from state police Friday night.
