Two Maryland Casinos Cutting Back On Slots

Ironically,  just days before a special session of the Maryland General Assembly to consider expanding gambling and adding a sixth slots casino- two of the existing slots operations are cutting back. Last week the Evitts group announced a greatly reduced slots plan for the Rocky Gap Lodge and Resort- dropping about 350 slot machines from the original plan. And this week, Penn National, which owns Hollywood Casino in Perryville, is citing a revenue drop of 30 percent in July, and plan to return up to 500 slots to the state. They are blaming the newly opened Maryland Live casino at the Arundel Mills Mall, which opened during the first week of June. State Senator Nancy Jacobs says the projected numbers simply aren’t panning out…
