U.S. Sen. Cardin Speaks In Favor Of Fracking

Maryland U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, during his recent visit to Allegany County, spoke in favor of the controversial “fracking” method used to extract natural gas from Marcellus Shale deposits, but emphasized that it has to be done correctly with an eye on the environment. Addressing the Greater Cumberland Committee, Cardin said he would also like to see hydraulic fracturing move forward, noting that federal regulations would move the process further along. He says that the current system- with each state developing its own set of regulations and criteria for fracking- is counterproductive to the process…
