UPDATE: Drowning victim identified

A 16-year-old Kitzmiller boy was pronounced dead Monday at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center after drowning at Jennings Randolph Lake. Maryland Natural Resources Police officers were called at about 5:20 p.m. for a missing and possibly drowned swimmer at Jennings Randolph Lake. The victim has been identified as Roy Scott Davis Jr. by police, according to the Associated Press. The teen’s body was found in 32 feet of water about two hours later by members of the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department, according to Candy Thomson, public information officer with the Maryland Natural Resources Police. Deep Creek fire department volunteers also responded and both companies have dive teams, according to Garrett County emergency dispatchers. The teen’s 17-year-old companion, also from Kitzmiller, was rescued by fishermen.
