UPDATE: Mount Savage fire under investigation

The Maryland State Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of a Monday evening house fire Mount Savage Three patients were evaluated on the scene of a house in Mount Savage Monday evening, resulting in two transports to the hospital.  An estimated loss of $50,000 including the structure and contents. The fire began on the rear porch and the cause is still under investigation. 
 
“Two firefighters were transported from the scene with non life threatening injuries to UPMC-Western Maryland,” Lt. Todd Bowman, public information officer for the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services said. “A third patient was evaluated, but refused care.” 
 
Fire and EMS units were dispatched to 15610 Lower Bank Road just after 5 p.m. for a reported house fire. As units responded, the Allegany County Joint Communications Center received additional calls reporting a fully involved house fire, according to Bowman. 
 
“Based off the new information, our Joint Communications Center started the working fire assignment,” Bowman said. 
 
Units from Mount Savage, Corriganville, Wellersburg, Frostburg, Shaft, LaVale, Ellerslie, Ridgeley, Eastern Garrett, Good Will, Midland, Cresaptown, along with ambulances from Corriganville, Mt. Savage and DES-Frostburg responded. An Allegany County Department of Emergency Services supervisor and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department also responded.
