Update On 2015 Autocross Event To Top Tonights Agenda

Topping the agenda tonight of the Potomac Highlands Airport Authority, an update on the 2015 autocross event which was the subject to much controversy and debate last year when it wasn’t held. The authority voted in June to deny access to the airport’s operational grounds for autocross racing in 2014 and said that the reasoning behind the decision was because it could affect FAA funding. During the last authority meeting in December, members voted unanimously to resubmit the autocross event description and safety plan to the Federal Aviation Administration for formal evaluation as it relates to federal grant assurance funding. The authority also voted to work jointly with National Road Autosport to submit the proper form to the FAA. Authority Chairman Gregg Wolff recommended the group members wait to take action on a specific autocross schedule for 2015 until they get the green light from the FAA.  Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine says that after a rocky 2014, he is optimistic about the airport’s future going forward…
