Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine says while there is still no signed contract between the county and the DelFest organization- he remains confident that its only a matter of time. The 2017 festival will be the 10th year for the event. DelFest was created by bluegrass legend Del McCoury and family who personally selected the fairgrounds in 2007 for the annual event. The 2016 DelFest was the last event under a previous contract between the parties- and at the present time, no contract exists for this year’s festival. All sides have agreed however, the 2017 festival will take place under the terms of the previous contract. Both sides are looking for a five year deal, and Valentine tells WCBC News that he fully expects that to happen sooner rather than later.
