Although some members of the Board of Education believe the Allegany County Commissioners' August 5th deadline for an answer on the ex-officio question is arbitrary- Commissioner Bill Valentine says that is not the case. The commissioners, in a letter dated July 22nd to the board, requested a response on whether or not the board will permit the ex-officio member- currently Commissioner Bill Valentine- the opportunity to sit in on closed or executive sessions. Board member Mike Llewellyn told WCBC News that the board doesn’t have a meeting scheduled until August 13th, and the commissioners shouldn’t expect a response until then.
