Valentine Remains Adamant About Written Agreement With State

Despite assurances from IAC executive director David Lever that Allegany County would be repaid any funding that it fronts on behalf of the state for the new Allegany High School project- County Commissioner Bill Valentine remains adamant about having a written agreement in place clearly outlining a payback schedule. Having county governments provide funding for school projects on behalf of the state is a routine occurrence but while Lever says the state has never reneged on such a deal and there should be no concerns- Valentine begs to differ. He tells WCBC News that he has been told of instances where the board of education, and not the county, received the reimbursed funds from the state…
