Valentine Says County Will Not Provide $2M for Rocky Gap

The Maryland Video Lottery Facilities Commission now expects to award a slots license for Rocky Gap sometime in February. One holdup is largely because of background checks on the officers of the companies bidding for the slots license, which is required by state law. The background checks for the Rocky Gap license is being handled by the state police. The other is trying to work out a deal to satisfy the struggling resorts bond holders who are owed approximately $12 million dollars. The Allegany County Commissioners have been approached on several occiasions by the state, asking that the county contribute $2 million to go to a package to settle with the bond holers. Commissioner Bill Valentine says that is not going to happen…
