On Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 8:16 pm hours, Troopers from the MSP Hagerstown Barrack, received a call indicating that there was a personal injury collision on Rt. 65 (Sharpsburg Pike) near the Battlefield Bible Church involving a vehicle striking a pedestrian. The vehicle had reportedly struck a nine year old child who had run out into the roadway. MSP Troopers along with Fire and EMS units from Sharpsburg and the Community Volunteer FD of District 12 responded to the scene. Maryland State Police Aviation also responded to the scene for medical evacuation of the patient to Children’s National Medical center in Washington DC. No charges are being placed at this time. The vehicle involved was a 2014Toyota passenger car. The vehicle was being operated by Mr. Donald Hintze of Boonsboro, Md.
