Reports surfaced Friday that Verso Corporation plans to file for bankruptcy reportedly after missing an interest payment on outstanding debt. The previous owner of the Luke Mill, NewPage, had filed for bankruptcy in 2011. Verso took over in 2014 and the company includes the Luke Mill, which currently employs around 800 people. There are unconfirmed reports that several delivery trucks ran into locked doors when arriving at the mill on Friday. Attempts by WCBC News to reach a spokesman for the parent company were not successful, finding only recorded voice messages.
