On Sunday afternoon at about 5:00 PM, Maryland State Police Troopers from the Hagerstown Barrack responded to the area of Jefferson Blvd and Old Georgetown Road to investigate a two vehicle collision.

Upon their arrival they determined the Chevrolet Equinox was traveling E/B on Rt. 64 prior to attempting a left turn into a business.  The driver of the Equinox, Donna Simmers, failed to yield the right of way and was struck on the passenger side by the Harley Davidson motorcycle which was traveling W/B on Rt. 64.  The driver of the motorcycle, Richard Plunkard, was ejected from the vehicle.

Plunkard was flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 3 to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment.  Donna Simmers was not injured in the collision.

TFC Rafter responded to the scene and conducted the reconstruction investigation.  The roadway was shut down for approximately two hours for investigation and removal of the involved vehicles.
