Washington Street Bridges Future A Major Issue Of Concern

The future of the Washington Street Bridge is becoming a major issue of concern. There is a growing belief by some residents that the city’s talks with CSX are focused instead on Cumberland’s other West Side bridges.  City officials acknowledge that the Washington Street Bridge does present some engineering challenges that the Fayette and Cumberland Street bridges do not- however they are quick to dismiss the notion that there are plans in place to permanently close Washington Street’s bridge.
