Water Upgrades In Keyser

August 15th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Keyser City Council met recently and topping the agenda was an update on the ongoing water project on Hawthorne Heights. The project includes  new water lines and storm-water drainage systems being installed as part of an $11 million upgrade to the city's water system. The work, which requires extensive excavation of streets in the neighborhood, has forced the temporary closure of Chestnut Street through the day, forcing residents to access their homes by alternate streets. The project also requires temporary disruption in water service as work progresses through the neighborhood. The Hawthorne Heights project is part of a larger water system improvement that also included the complete refurbishment of the city's water treatment plant. An update on that phase of the project – which entailed about $6 million of the overall cost – is also slated for tomorrow's meeting, with the city formally announcing the completion of the plant upgrade.
