West Virginia Using Grant for Laid-off Coal Workers

November 2nd, 2013 by WCBC Radio

West Virginia will use $1.8 million in grant money to help retrain laid-off coal miners and their family members for other kinds of employment. WorkForce West Virginia  has taken control off administering the U.S. Department of Labor grant. The money was originally earmarked and limited to workers affected by mass layoffs. However, now eligibility requirements have changed, adding the scope to coal workers who are now out of work.
