Westernport woman sentenced on robbery charges

The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, Maryland, Michael Twigg, State’s Attorney, announced the sentence of Sandra S. Duckworth, 28, of Westernport Maryland to 10 years in the Maryland Department of Corrections for the robbery of the Tri-Towns Pharmacy in Westernport Maryland on August 13th, 2013.  Duckworth entered the pharmacy on the evening of the 13th and sprayed pepper spray on the employees of the store in order to take various prescription pills.  Duckworth was apprehended shortly afterwards by law enforcement and was found to be in possession of the stolen prescription pills.  In addition to the 10 years in the Department of Corrections, Duckworth was sentenced to an additional 4 years suspended with 2 years supervised probation upon her release from prison. The case was prosecuted by Michael Twigg, State’s Attorney.  Michael Stankan from the Public Defender’s Office represented the defendant.  Judge Gary Leasure presided over the matter in Circuit Court.
