Wisp Resort plans a Saturday opening despite unseasonably warm weather that has hampered snowmaking.
General Manager Jerry Geisler said Wednesday that the resort expects to have one of its 35 trails open, plus a children's learning area and carpets that enable skiing and snowboarding on a synthetic surface.
Ice skating, tree-canopy tours, Segway tours and the mountain coaster ride will also be available, Geisler said.
Wisp, Maryland's only ski resort, used a brief cold snap Friday and Saturday for about 45 hours of snowmaking.
"We took advantage of the short cold snap and produced as much snow as we could," Geisler said.
Last year, Wisp opened for the season Dec. 13
