With COVID-19, Streaming Meetings is New Norm

One of the results of the COVID-19 pandemic has been how government meetings are now being held with the city of Cumberland, Allegany County Commissioners and Board of Education utilizing various forms of live streaming in order to conduct public business. The County Commissioners have met on a regular every other week schedule- closing the county office complex to the public but allowing media members to attend. Those sessions are available on the county’s website. The board of education will conduct its first regular meeting since the Coronavirus next Tuesday- and that will also be closed to the public- with the session available via youtube. The city of Cumberland has also closed its sessions to the public- conducting the last three meeting online. During this week’s city meeting, Mayor Ray Morriss began the session by praising those on the frontlines as well as other essential workers who have been active on their jobs during the crisis…
