Wolters Points to Drug Problem as Top Priority of Council Candidacy

Retired after 26 years as a pilot for Airborne Express, Ben Wolters would like to spend his next few years in City Hall. Wolters is one of five candidates running for two seats on the Cumberland City Council. He has been active in the community, most notably his role in attempting to  bring period lighting to Washington Street. He talked with WCBC News about some of his priorities, and those include tackling the growing drug problem. He acknowledged that there isn’t a lot a council member can do in addressing issues of crime, he does believe the city can work with the Western Maryland Health System to address the overcrowded conditions that have developed as a result of overdoses…
