Woman Found Dead In Oakland Likely Died Of Hypothermia

On 1/8/17 at 0946 hours, the Maryland State Police McHenry Barrack Troopers responded to 26854 Garrett Highway, Oakland, Garrett County, Maryland 21541 for a deceased victim found lying outside in the snow.

     Upon arrival, Troopers and the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division Investigators learned that the victim identified as Katelyn M. Pike, 22 year old female, was lying outside in the parking lot at the above listed location.  The victims vehicle was located at the scene and appeared to be not working. It is believed the victim exited her vehicle and fell in the parking lot from unknown reasons at this time.  Preliminary the cause of death may be hypothermia.  The victim will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.
