Woman injured in domestic clash

On Saturday night the Cumberland Police Dept were dispatched to the 400blk of Grand Ave in reference to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival Officers began interviewing witnesses where it was learned that a male and female subject got into a verbal argument. The subjects then got into separate vehicles and began running them into each other. The female subject exited her vehicle and approached the vehicle the male was operating when the door opened while the vehicle was pulling forward. The female subject was struck by the door throwing her to the ground. The male subject then fled the area. The female was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by the Cumberland Fire Dept for treatment of non life threatening injuries. While still on the scene, the male subject who was identified as Michael Ford, 37 years of age of Cumberland returned and was placed under arrest without incident. Ford was charged with one count of First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and traffic related offenses. Ford was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on a $3,000 bail. The investigation is continuing and further charges are pending.
