June 10th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Maryland State Police are investigating after a woman made an unfounded bomb threat this morning outside of the Bel Air location of the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration.

The threat was reported shortly after 9:20 a.m. at the site, located at 501 West MacPhail Road. The woman claimed a bomb was in her vehicle. The Motor Vehicle Administration requested the entrance to the Bel Air location be temporarily closed, and everyone inside the building, including employees and customers were told to “shelter in place.” The Maryland State Police K9 Unit responded to the location, scanned the vehicle, and deemed the location safe.

The MVA location and surrounding roads were reopened by about 10:30 a.m. The female, who never made it inside of the building after she was stopped by a Maryland state trooper working security for the MVA, was taken into custody and was transported to an area hospital for an emergency evaluation. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
