Woman pleads guilty to arson charge

A Bel Air woman who set fire to her residence at Bel Air Apartments last year was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison. The Cumberland Times News reports Jennifer J. Shoap, 46, pleaded guilty in Allegany County Circuit Court to second-degree arson. Five years of the sentence was suspended by Judge Jeffrey S. Getty. The Nov. 5 fire displaced three people and caused about $75,000 damage.

Shoap will serve three years' probation upon her release from prison. A judgment in the amount of $30,000 was also entered against her.
