Work Continues On Partial Roundabout On U.S. Route 220 South

October 28th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

Crews are continuing to work at the partial roundabout on U.S. Route 220 South at Interstate 68 with an early November completion date targeted. The Maryland State Highway Administration is modifying the project following complaints from tractor-trailer drivers trying to navigate the roadway. The intent of the partial roundabout is to make it easier for traffic heading south on Greene Street to access eastbound I-68- however public feedback is not indicating that to be the case. Irate callers to WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” have been complaining about the project for several months.  Hoping to address some of those concerns, Steve Bucy Assistant District 6 Engineer for construction for the SHA agreed to be a guest Friday on the show.  Bucy acknowledges that the initial plan developed by Columbia Maryland based Brudis and Associates had serious problems- and that a second plan was then developed. Although, not perfect, Bucy believes the round-about will present a better traffic situation than had previously existed…
