The Y of Cumberland has been awarded a $3,000 grant from Standard Charitable Foundation. The grant will provide a rent subsidy for those in need through their housing program.
The Y’s supportive housing program offers housing to single men and women as well as to families during a time of transition from homelessness. Housing sites are located at the downtown Cumberland YMCA as well as within the local community.
Robin Fazenbaker, housing director of the Cumberland YMCA, explains, “The Cumberland YMCA’s Housing Program is dedicated to providing not only safe housing to our participants, but also to providing resources and case management services to them so they can eventually move into permanent housing. Obstacles and set-backs are often encountered along the way, but this grant is designed to help those participants who meet unforeseen hardship, but are truly working to improve their lives.”
