Animal Control Board Expects Complaints at Meeting

Following two recent high profile animal hoarding cases in Cumberland and Bel Air, the Allegany County Animal Control Board is fully expecting to hear complaints and criticisms about the local animal shelter and how each case was responded to and dealt with. The board will meet in public session for the first time this summer, on September 2nd at the county office complex.  Board member Judy Thelan tells WCBC News that she understands the frustration, particularly with the Bel Air case in which 12 dogs, nine deceased were located in an abandoned property- weeks after several citizens had notified the shelter about the problem. Thelan said if it seems as though the board has been slow to respond, there is a reason for the measured approach….
