Cumberland woman faces 158 counts of animal cruelty

A house on Maryland Avenue in Cumberland was raided by Allegany County Animal Control officials on  July 16 and on Tuesday charges were filed against a 42-year-old Cumberland.  Pepper R. Taylor of 617 Maryland Ave woman has been charged with 158 counts of animal cruelty in the District Court for Allegany County. Taylor was released on a $10,000 property bond. Thanks to the work of those at the Allegany Animal Shelter, the 35 dogs rescued from what is being called a “puppy mill” operation are doing well and soon should be made available for adoption. Becky McClarran, president of the Allegany County Animal Control Management Foundation,  provided a status report on the rescued animals:
