Arrests Made in Theft Cases

On 02/03/16 at approximately 2311 hours the Maryland State Police Cumberland barrack responded to a report of a suspicious condition in the 1500 Block of Scarlett Court, Cumberland, MD 21502 (Bel Air Neighborhood). A witness observed two male suspects entering vehicles in the area and was able to provide a description. The neighborhood was searched and the two male suspects where located in the area of Bourbon Street at Scarlett Court. The two suspects fled on foot and one was caught following the foot chase. The second suspect was identified and was apprehended in the area. Investigation revealed that a White 1997 Nissan Altima GXE MD: 5CA5640 that was located in the area was associated with the incident. Nickoli Cakus, 18, of Cumberland and Tyrell Parker, 19, of LaVale were both arrested and released to the Allegany County Detention Center. Please remember to lock your vehicles overnight and remove all valuables. An increased number in thefts from vehicles have been reported.
