CPD Respond To Hit & Run And Assault

On 02/11/16 The Cumberland Police Dept served a criminal summons on 31 year old Chad Izat of Cumberland. The summons stems from an investigation initiated by the Cumberland Police Dept on 01/19/16 when Officers responded to a business located in the 700blk of Park St in reference to a theft. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who advised that a subject came into the store and removed several items of value. Security surveillance was utilized which developed Izat as the suspect. As a result Officers applied for criminal charges through the District Court resulting in the summons being issued. Izat was charged with one count of Theft Under $100 and released after signing the summons pending trial in District Court.

 

February 11th, 2016                                                Hit and Run

 

On 02/11/16 at 1030am The Cumberland Police Dept initiated a report of a hit and run that occurred in the parking lot of Roses Plaza located on Queen City Dr. The victim advised that they went into a store and upon returning to their vehicle, observed that it had been struck on the driver side. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cumberland Police Dept at 301-777-1600.

 

 

February 11th, 2016                                                Assault

 

On 02/11/16 at 1147am Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the 200blk of N. Lee St in reference to an assault. Upon arrival Officers made contact with the victim who advised that an argument ensued and that the suspect would not allow them to leave the residence. The victim further stated that the argument turned physical in which they were thrown to the ground and struck in the face. Officers observed injuries consistent with the victim’s account of the incident that did not require medical attention. As a result Officers placed 31 year old Jeffrey Beard of Cumberland under arrest. Beard was transported to the Cumberland Police Dept where he was processed and charged with one count of Assault Second Degree and False Imprisonment. Beard was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on a $7,500.00 bond. He was then released to the custody of the Allegany County Detention Center pending his next court appearance.
